These classes teach our members how to use our facility and equipment to maximize their production efforts. Advance registration is required for all classes.
Classes at Town Square Television
Intro To Community TV
Students learn about the wide range of video production opportunities available at Town Square Television. In this 1-hour class, we discuss channel and equipment policies and use, video production classes, and hands-on volunteer opportunities. We also provide a complete tour of the Town Square Television facility. This class is a pre-requisite for all other classes.
Introduction to Community Television
HD Camera Production Certification
Students learn how to operate the Panasonic P2 High-Definition Video Camera, tripod, and microphones. Through an exercise, students also learn how to best capture video in different settings, and how to properly transfer video files onto a hard drive. Each class is a 2-hour class.

Studio Production Certification
Students will receive an overview of the Panasonic studio cameras, Ross switcher, Behringer audio board and Compix graphics. The instructor will discuss basic audio and shot composition for a studio production. This is a 2-hour class. This class requires a minimum of 4 students.
Studio Production 1
Studio Production Certification
Students will participate in a hands on studio exercise. Following instruction, students practice what they have learned by alternating studio crew positions, including director, audio tech, camera and graphics. This is a 2-hour class. This class requires a minimum of 4 students.
Studio Production 2
Non-Linear Editing Certification
Students watch a training video on how to edit video with Adobe Premiere Pro, and then they take a test about the contents of the video.

Non-Linear Editing Certification
Students start their first Adobe Premiere Pro Editing project with the assistance and guidance of a Town Square Television Instructor.

Lighting for Television
Students learn three-point lighting designed for a television production using a Lowell Light Kit.
Lighting for Television
Truck Production
Students learn how to operate the on-location cameras, audio board, video switcher, character generator, and other equipment used for on-location productions. Certification for the production truck will require completion of both the Introduction to Community Television Class and the Truck Production Class. Observation of a Town Square Television truck production is optional. Note: The production truck is available for community-based event productions, and is generally not available for series programming. Use of the production truck is at the discretion of Town Square Television’s Executive Director. A Production Proposal Form will need to be completed and approved at least two weeks prior to the date of production.
